Getting here

We would encourage you where possible to use public transport when attending The BIBA Conference. Manchester Central is in the heart of the City and incredibly easy to get to. However, if you do drive to the event consider a car share scheme.

Manchester has direct connections to most major UK cities and is just over 2 hours from London. Trains arrive at Piccadilly or Victoria stations where you can get a Metrolink tram to the city centre. Manchester Central is a 20 minute walk from Piccadilly Station or just five minutes by taxi.

If using a sat nav please follow the postcode M2 3GX. There is an NCP (National Car Park) directly below Manchester Central that is open 24 hours a day. Book your parking here.

If you are using the NCP car park underneath Manchester Central please do not leave any valuables in your car. Manchester Central works hard to ensure the venue is as safe and secure as possible. In response to the reported thefts in the NCP car park beneath the venue, they have introduced several measures, alongside working proactively with NCP and Greater Manchester Police to ensure they are addressing the matter. Any possessions left in a vehicle are left entirely at the owner’s risk. BIBA is not liable for any theft by third parties from your vehicle. 

Trams (Metrolink)

The nearest tram stop to Manchester Central is St Peter’s Square.

Trams run every few minutes from early morning until late in the evening. You don’t need a timetable, just turn up, buy your ticket and the next tram will be along shortly.

Free Bus 

Free Bus services link the city centre’s main rail stations, shopping areas and businesses, all free of charge.

Important Information

We wanted to let you know that because we are alert to planned demonstrations being staged at Manchester Central during The BIBA Conference, we have put additional security measures in place to ease your access to the venue as a precaution.

When you get to Manchester Central please have your registration confirmation email with QR code ready to show security staff and please bring a form of ID with you that matches the name you registered with (bank card, drivers license, office ID is fine). We also suggest that you do not wear your conference badge outside of the venue. 
However, it will be business as usual at The BIBA Conference and we are really looking forward to welcoming you to the event soon.  
 
The following items are prohibited at Manchester Central:
 
  • Any objects or clothing bearing (as shall be determined at BIBA’s reasonable discretion) political statements, objectionable or offensive statements, or commercial identification intended for ‘ambush marketing’;

  • Any item which, in the reasonable opinion of BIBA, may pose a hazard to the safe delivery of The BIBA Conference, compromise public safety or cause nuisance or harm to others or be used to sabotage or damage property. Examples of these items would include, but not be limited to, large flags, banners, rattles, fireworks and other explosive devices, flares, pyrotechnics, air horns, musical instruments, klaxons, smoke canisters, spray paint, laser pointers, cooking devices, bicycles, skates,  articles which could or might be used as a weapon (including firearms and any sharp or pointed objects such as knives). 

 

If you are found with a prohibited item, this item will be confiscated by authorised personnel and you may be ejected from the Event or refused entry into the Event. The item will be disposed of without compensation unless you return the item to a safe place.  

BIBA regards the health and safety of everyone attending The BIBA Conference as of paramount importance and work with the venue and our H&S team to implement measures to keep our attendees as safe and comfortable as possible.
